3 Ways to Treat a Burn Quickly There are several different types of burns that we may experience and some of them are a lot more severe than others. A typical burn is simply going to be topical, and we will receive this type of burn on a regular basis by touching something that is hot accidentally. More severe burns may cause blistering and in the case of third degree burns, the skin may be damaged and even the underlying muscle and bone can be affected. If you have third degree burns, it is important for you to seek medical attention but for lighter burns, there are several different things that you can do in order to overcome the problem and to help the healing to start. The first thing that you should do whatever you have a burn is to apply cold water to the area. Some people will tell you to put butter on a burn, but that may actually cause more problems than burn itself. It is a better idea for you to run cold water over the area, or perhaps to apply cold compresses in order to pull some of the pain out of the burn. It will also help to start the healing process and will cool the area significantly. Make sure that you don't use ice, however, as ice can also damage skin that already has some damage to it. For some types of burns, such as first-degree burns or sunburn, vinegar may be able to help to cool the area and to start the healing rather quickly. Put a little bit of apple cider vinegar on the burn and you will notice that the pain will almost instantly go away. Continue to apply it, and it will help with the healing process significantly. In the case of larger burn areas, such as sunburn, you may want to make a 50/50 water and vinegar mix and put it into a spray bottle. The cool spray will feel great and it will help the healing to begin. Finally, aloe is an excellent choice for putting on any type of burn. Aloe gel is available at many health food stores, but it is also possible for you to grow an aloe plant at home. Make sure that you have one of these available, for the next time that you get a burn as you can simply cut open a leaf and apply it to the area in order to give yourself some healing relief.
